ABOUT FRIENDS OF MOSELEY ROAD BATHS

For too many years the future of Moseley Road Baths has hung in the balance.  Swimmers and concerned residents have watched with bated breath waiting for results of reports, surveys and studies.

So, we decided to gather together to ensure that the building’s Centenary could be properly marked in 2007 and to ensure that this remarkable building can not only be kept open, but that it can also become a relevant and viable part of modern day Balsall Heath through opening up unused parts of the building for the whole community to enjoy.

As a group we have succeeded in having a huge amount of fun raising awareness, funds and support.  We hope that you will join us!

‘THE SWIMMERS' POOL’

Moseley Road Baths our local pool has served the swimmers of south Birmingham for 100 years. Thousands of schoolchildren have learnt to swim here. This beautiful Edwardian pool is under threat unless money is found from local and national sources for essential repairs and restoration. We the undersigned support the campaign to:

  • Reopen and maintain both pools at Moseley Road baths and believe that two pools are essential to meet the needs of the local and wider community.
  • Keep the swimming baths as a publicly owned facility for the people of Birmingham
  • Preserve historic and architectural aspects of the building whilst finding use for currently unused areas of the building

We urge our political representatives at all levels to do everything in their powers to ensure the above takes effect.
